Edge and Data Science

Edge analytics is the collection, processing, and analysis of data at the edge of a network either at or close to a sensor, a network switch or some other connected device. Analytics at the edge of the system can significantly improve speed while avoiding data congestion.
Edge Analytics is the future of Data Science. For enterprises, the Internet of Things (IoT) brings many advantages through access to better insights gained from Big Data. So, it all comes down to the important data generated by billions of smart devices and sensors located at the device itself, that is the Edge.
IBM defines data science as being comprised of four essential “V’s” — volume, velocity, variety, and veracity. If you can structure your data into one of these categories or concepts, it is valuable. Veracity of current data, lots of variety and the sheer velocity of incoming data all make a difference, in addition to volume. Edge computing, aids in the above process of data harnessing.
